Sogho, in Khana Local Government Area
The Centre for Behavioral Change and Public Enlightenment in collaboration with Morning Glory Family is pleased to present the 2023 edition of its free medical outreach program in Sogho Community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.
This initiative aims to provide accessible healthcare services and create awareness about behavioural change and public health issues within the community.
WHY IS THE FREE MEDICAL OUTREACH IN SOGHO?
The population in Sogho Community faces numerous challenges in accessing quality healthcare services. The lack of functional healthcare facilities, limited financial resources, and a lack of awareness about preventive healthcare measures contribute to the poor health outcomes in the community. Additionally, behavioural factors such as unhealthy lifestyles, poor hygiene practices, and a lack of knowledge about disease prevention further exacerbate these issues.
OUR OBJECTIVES:
– To provide free medical services, including consultations, diagnostic tests, and medication, to the residents of Sogho Community.
– To create awareness about the importance of behavioural change and its impact on public health.
– To educate the community on preventive healthcare measures, including proper hygiene practices, healthy lifestyles, and disease prevention.
– To establish a long-term partnership with local healthcare providers and organizations to ensure sustained healthcare support for the community.
OUR ACTIVITIES:
a. Medical Services:
– Organize a medical camp in Sogho Community, providing free consultations, diagnostic tests, and medication for common ailments.
– Collaborate with local healthcare professionals and volunteers to provide a comprehensive range of medical services.
– Ensure the availability of essential medications and medical supplies during the outreach program as provided by Morning Glory Family.
b. Behavioral Change and Public Health Enlightenment:
– Conduct health education sessions and workshops on topics such as hygiene practices, nutrition, family planning, and maternal and child health.
– Utilize visual aids, interactive sessions, and community engagement activities to effectively communicate health messages.
c. OUR SUSTAINABILITY PLAN:
– Collaborate with local healthcare providers, and community leaders to ensure the program’s success and sustainability.
– Establish a referral system to connect community members with appropriate healthcare providers for ongoing or specialized care.
– Develop a plan for follow-up and monitoring of patients’ progress, including referrals for further treatment, if necessary.
5. Expected Outcomes:
– Increased access to quality healthcare services for residents of Sogho Community.
– Improved awareness and understanding of behavioural change and public health issues.
– Adoption of healthier lifestyles and improved hygiene practices within the community.
– Strengthened partnerships between CEBECPEN, Morning Glory Family, local healthcare providers, and community organizations for future collaboration.
Conclusion:
The proposed free medical outreach program in Sogho Community aims to address the healthcare challenges faced by the community while promoting behavioural change and public health enlightenment. By providing accessible healthcare services and raising awareness, we hope to contribute to the overall well-being and development of the community.
