WHO WE ARE

Our Story: A Light in the Darkness

From the time I was a teenager, a question has echoed in my heart:

How can I help create a better world?

This question became my compass, guiding me through the shadows of a community steeped in hardship-a place where over 80% of people struggle to survive on less than $2 a day.

I grew up in a village, Akporo Sogho, where the lack of a functional hospital meant that illness often translated to hopelessness, and where the absence of basic necessities like electricity and clean water made survival an uphill battle. As a child, I was no stranger to poverty; it was not just an external condition, but a heavy weight that tried to shape my identity. Temptations lurked around every corner—peer pressures to join a cult, to escape into drugs like Indian Hemp. Each day felt like a tightrope walk between pursuing my dreams and succumbing to despair.

My life could have easily remained a story of hopelessness, but a transformative encounter with God placed me on a different path. With divine guidance, I found a means to rise above my circumstances and focus on education. The world began to shift before me, and I saw a flicker of hope.

In our village, where darkness enveloped homes in the evenings, my mother’s commitment to take me to church every morning was a lifeline. We would navigate our way using a lantern, lighting our path with a small flame that had an immeasurable impact. At church, I witnessed something powerful: the collective light of every attendee illuminated our small space. It became clear to me that even the tiniest flame could banish darkness, and the absence of just one person would leave a gap that could not be ignored.

Through these experiences, a profound realization dawned upon me: each of us has the potential to shine our light and make the world a better place. I realized that the flames of individual hope, when united, could brighten even the darkest corners of our society. And so, from the ashes of despair arose the Centre for Behavioural Change and Public Enlightenment—an initiative born from a deep desire to address the multiple challenges faced in my community and how to guide the young people to fulfill purpose.

Our centre stands as a beacon of hope, dedicated to empowering young individuals and communities to break the chains of poverty through education, health awareness, and positive behavioral change. Together, we strive to ignite the light within each person, reinforcing the belief that transformation is possible, and that together we can indeed create a better world.

This is not just our story; it is a call to action for all of us. Let us come together, for in unity lies the strength to illuminate even the darkest of paths.
